Alix Dance Club Instructor
Hello, My name is Abbey!
I have been dancing for 16 years and have loved every opportunity that dance has given me throughout my dance career! Dance to me is a way to express myself and find comfort in life, it is a way to escape reality and focus on something I can control, and give myself a break from anything outside of studio walls. I also love the feeling of being on a stage, the adrenaline and sensation of accomplishment is unmatchable! My goal is to help children find a similar feeling through dance.
I danced recreationally until I was 15, then started competing. I have completed all my Royal Academy of Dance ballet exams from Grade 2 up to Advanced 1. I have danced with numerous companies including the Alberta School of Ballet in Calgary for their summer intensive twice, the Joffrey School of Ballet in New York City, and have received scholarships and attended the American Music and Drama Academy also in New York City.
When I’m not dancing I’m either doing school, traveling or competing in pageants. I’m a first-year college student at Red Deer college currently doing my Bachelor of Education for secondary social studies. I love learning about different cultures and ways of life, traveling has been a huge part of my life since I was little. It has given me many opportunities and experiences. I started doing pageants when I was 14 and since have won multiple titles including Miss Jr. Teen Northern Alberta, Miss Teen Prairies Region, and Miss Teen Canadian International.
